Amazon is expanding its Alexa+ conversational AI assistant to India, launching a Hindi-language beta-testing program. The company sent emails to select Indian customers inviting them to join the Alexa+ Beta programme, requesting users to fill out a form in Hindi by June 22. The email stated: "You are invited to join the Alexa+ Beta programme in India. We are creating a new Alexa experience, and your feedback will be important to refine what Alexa+ will be able to do." Amazon acknowledged the beta software may contain bugs and provide inaccurate information or mispronounce local language nuances. Alexa+ is not currently available in India, and no launch timeline has been announced. Amazon first launched Alexa in India with English support in 2017, adding Hindi compatibility in 2019. With over 600 million Hindi speakers in India, the company aims to capture the market of native speakers who use code-mixed Hindi and English. Amazon announced Alexa+ in 2025, making it available to all U.S. users in February 2026. The company has since expanded to the U.K., Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Italy, and Germany with local context support. Alexa+ is offered free to Prime customers, with a monthly subscription available for non-Prime users.
