Listen Labs: $1.5B round scrapped amid Salesforce acquisition talks

Original: AI research startup Listen Labs scrubbed a $1.5B funding round for Salesforce talks

Why This Matters

The deal signals rising M&A interest in AI-powered market research tools among major enterprise CRM players.

AI market research startup Listen Labs walked away from a signed $125M Series C term sheet at a $1.5B valuation, led by Menlo Ventures, as acquisition talks with Salesforce at approximately $2B are underway, though no deal has been finalized.

Listen Labs, a three-year-old AI market research startup, recently signed and then abandoned a term sheet for a $125 million Series C at a $1.5 billion valuation with Menlo Ventures set to lead. Walking away from a signed term sheet is described as rare and generally frowned upon in the venture community. The move is believed to be connected to reported acquisition discussions with Salesforce at around $2 billion, as noted by Business Insider, though those talks remain unfinalized.

Founded in 2023 by Florian Jüngermann and Alfred Wahlforss — who met at Harvard — Listen Labs uses voice and video AI to conduct customer interviews, then packages results into reports and presentations. The startup currently generates approximately $30 million in annualized revenue. Its customers include Microsoft, Canva, Anthropic, and Sweetgreen.

Competitor Simile closed a $200 million Series B at a $2 billion valuation led by Greenoaks in late July, likely resetting valuation benchmarks in the sector. If Salesforce talks fall through, VCs told TechCrunch they expect Listen Labs to pursue a $2 billion-plus valuation. One source cautioned that Salesforce may balk at a 67x revenue multiple.
