AfterQuery reaches $3.2B valuation, YC's fastest-ever unicorn

Original: AfterQuery reportedly becomes Y Combinator’s fastest-ever unicorn, now valued at $3.2B

Why This Matters

AfterQuery's rapid unicorn ascent signals surging investor demand for AI model-training data platforms targeting professional reasoning.

AI training-data startup AfterQuery has reportedly raised a new round valuing it at $3.2 billion — just five months after its $300 million Series A in April 2026, marking a 10x+ valuation increase and the fastest launch-to-unicorn milestone in Y Combinator's history.

AfterQuery, an AI training-data startup based in San Francisco, has reportedly closed a funding round that values the company at $3.2 billion. The raise comes only five months after its Series A in April 2026, which valued the company at $300 million with $30 million raised — representing more than a 10x valuation jump in under half a year. Y Combinator partner Gustaf Alströmer described it as the fastest any startup has gone from launch to unicorn status in YC's history. AfterQuery's two founders, aged 22 and 23, participated in YC's Winter 2025 cohort just 18 months ago. By April 2026, the company had already reached an annualized revenue run rate of $100 million and counted Nvidia, Legora, and Korean AI lab Motif Technologies among its customers. Unlike competitors such as Mercor and Scale AI, AfterQuery focuses not on answer accuracy but on training models and agents to replicate the decision-making processes of top professionals — doctors, lawyers, and other specialists — describing its mission as "encoding the patterns, decisions, and reasoning of the world's best practitioners." Forbes first reported the new valuation. AfterQuery did not respond to requests for comment.
